PRACTICE AREAS
Estate Planning and Administration
Estate planning consists of arranging a person's property within the laws of insurance, taxation and trusts in order to receive the maximum benefit of one's estate. This has become a major area of practice primarily due to the numerous changes in the law regarding estates. We remain educated on the subject and all laws pertaining to estates by attending special training seminars and receiving informative publications containing the latest information.
Estate administration is the transfer of assets from a deceased person to his or her heirs. Our attorneys have overseen the administration of a variety of different estates. Once again, a properly designed estate plan will allow for a much easier and quicker transfer during an emotional time.
Our firm provides a full range of services for estates, from beginning to end. The process begins with an initial consultation with a qualified attorney. This meeting will allow the attorney to understand your situation and desires for your estate as well as allow you to understand the variety of options available to you. Items such as your assets, taxes, legal issues, heirs and so forth will be discussed at this time. Once an agreement has been made on the design of your estate, we will begin work on bringing your desires to life. This will include the creation of the proper documents and filings with the court.
It is important to plan ahead and set up an estate before it is too late. Probate costs can be excessive if a properly designed estate is not in place before the time of death. Preparation of wills, trusts and powers of attorney will greatly assist your loved one's with the execution of your estate.
